Soviet Union Back In 1988

On a very cold February morning back in 1988, I came off the night shift at the Printing factory where I worked, got in the back of a friend's car, and slept all the way to Heathrow Airport, London UK, to catch a n Aeroflot plane to Leningrad (now St. Petersburg), with a group of friends from a left wing newspaper, for a seven day stay.

Back then, before the collapse of the Berlin Wall, the Soviet Union was a strange but fascinating place. Quite recently, I found a number of scanned images on an old disc, and set about creating some 3-D Images. All the original shots were made with a Leica 3, and a Zorki 50mm lens. Some of the films reticulated during development, which made for very 'arty' prints. I will put some more up on the blog in a few months time.
